Any art prize is only as credible as the people judging its entries. Since its inception, the RACT Insurance Tasmanian Portraiture Prize has been blessed with judges whose credentials and expertise have helped the Prize become one of Tasmania’s premier art awards. Each year, three new, highly regarded judges are selected to keep the Prize dynamic and fresh.

Alasdair Doyle – Tasmanian artist and past winner of the RACT Insurance Tasmanian Portraiture Prize (2015)
Carla Fletcher – Melbourne based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art Drawing from RMIT, Melbourne and several time finalist of the Archibald
Yvette Watt – Lecturer in Fine Art at the Tasmanian College of the Arts, University of Tasmania, where she also completed a MFA and a PhD.
2015
Barbie Kjar – Accomplished and celebrated Tasmanian artist. Masters of Fine Art RMIT, Melbourne; Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education, UTAS, Hobart.
Cameron McRae – Winner of the 2014 RACT Insurance Tasmanian Portraiture Prize.
Jarrod Rawlins – Co-founder and director of Uplands Gallery, Melbourne (2001 – 2011) and partner in the Kaliman Rawlins Gallery, Melbourne (2011 – 2013).

Robert Hannaford – nationally recognised portrait artist and multiply shortlisted for the Archibald Prize.
